Dave Egan has built Rhythm Restorations from an idea in the mid 1990’s, to today where it is the respected authority on all facets of percussion repair and maintenance. His knowledge and experience is valued by top professional players and senior educators.
His own career in music began at age 9 studying drums with respected Sydney drummer John Costa. He attended Christian Brothers Lewisham where he played drums/percussion in the CBHS Lewisham Brass Band, which became champion Australian “A” Grade school band under direction of Bruce Hicks.

Dave was also a winning snare drum soloist.
He turned semi professional at age 14 and took up his musical career full time when he finished school in 1979.

While he was busy playing in Sydney’s clubs and hotels with numerous pop bands and cabaret acts, he started teaching drums at St Joseph’s College Hunters Hill, spending the next 25 years teaching in various schools, colleges and music shops.

Always a keen car enthusiast, Dave enrolled in TAFE as a journeyman panel beater and graduated winning the prize for best student. He went on to work part time in a smash repair workshop, dealing in all areas of automotive body repair and re-finishing.
More study followed, enrolling in TAFE School of Engineering where he completed 3 years of Fitting and Machining. Over the years he has owned and restored many older cars, currently he has a 1971 Mustang Mach 1 and his wife’s 1966 Rambler Classic.
